Discover the Wimberley Glassworks Factory Tour in Texas
Experience the magic of molten glass at Wimberley Glassworks, one of Texas’s premier hand-blown glass studios. Located near San Marcos in the Hill Country, this working hot shop invites visitors to watch master glassblowers transform sand and fire into stunning vases, bowls, lighting pieces, and sculptural art. Fiery furnaces, glowing glass, and artisan craftsmanship create a mesmerizing experience for guests of all ages.
Why it’s special: Unlike most art studios, Wimberley Glassworks allows visitors to stand feet away from the action and see every step of the glassblowing process—gathering, shaping, blowing, and finishing. Each demonstration is unique, with pieces created in real time before your eyes.
History/Story of Wimberley Glassworks
Founded by glass artist Tim de Jong, Wimberley Glassworks has grown from a small studio into one of the most respected glassblowing operations in the state. Over decades, the studio has become known for bold colors, large-scale installations, and custom lighting commissions for hotels, public buildings, and private collectors. The San Marcos-area studio remains dedicated to handcrafted artistry, education, and preserving traditional glassblowing techniques.
